A Blog is Born!

We wanted to kick off our blog with a bang, and no other image can express this new journal better than one of the Flying Sambolini himself!! A blog seems like a good place for us to chronicle and share stories about Sam, especially now that he's becoming more active and alert. Sure, it's a little NoVa of us, but it might be the best way for us to reach some of our relatives who are so far away, like Cousin Logan and Granny Griggs and the rest of the Aussies and both the Traveling Papas.

Sam is 12 weeks old this week. It's hard to believe that 3 months ago we were speeding down the highway in Richmond on the way to the hospital. So far, it's been amazing to watch him grow and start to notice the world around him. We had a unique start, and while it was scary at the time, it's a pretty amazing story. One day, it'll be hard to believe that he was ever this small!!

A couple of new things this week:

Smiling - Sam has just started to really smile, especially when Robb tickles his belly.

Sitting Up - Just this week, Sam has started wanting to sit up more and look around and the only time he really starts to fuss is when he's on his back. The bumpo has been great so far to give him the support he needs to build the strength to sit up all the time on his own.

Sunglasses - Sam B. sent us these AWESOME sunglasses!! They're really going to come in handy during Robb and Sam's morning walks on the GW Parkway. He looks a little like a gangster in this pose!

Sleeping - We're still waiting for Sam to sleep through the night and even though he's getting close by sleeping 4 or 5 hours straight, he just can't shake his 3am. feeding...fingers crossed for us that we'll make the turn and all get a little more sleep.

We'll post more photos next week!!

It's pretty obvious this kid is going to be a Bears fan. I believe that George Halas predestined this child to make semi annual pilgramages to Soldier Field around age 10.

On the other hand, he might say things at age 20 like, "Hi, I'm Sam. I really love Northern Virginia. Were you aware that it is consistently rated as one of the best places to live in America? We have great schools, lots of jobs, and great healthcare amenities. Housing prices always outperform the national average. Go Skins! Cheers!"

Let's hope he's a Bears fan.
